Love at First Page

Today, being Valentine’s Day and all, is a lovey dovey sort of day so I thought I would share some of the books I have the most lovey dovey feelings for. All of the following books are my, of course, favorites, but they also have the distinction of being books that I felt in love with immediately–first page, first paragraph, first sentence.  I avidly recommend them all.

1. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J. K. Rowling (Children’s Fantasy)

2. Leviathan Wakes by James S. A. Corey (Scifi)

3. One Day by David Nicholls (Weepy Fiction)

4. Me Before You by Jojo Moyes (Also Weepy Fiction)

5. Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman (Urban Fantasy)

6. Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman (Mythological Fantasy)

7. The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien (Fantasy)

8. The Dovekeepers by Alice Hoffman (Historical Fiction/Fantasy)

9. The Help by Kathryn Stockett (Women’s Fiction)

10. Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand by Helen Simonson (Literary Fiction)
